Artist's Description
HAPPENING is a celebration and an allegory of a true vivid memory. Music dance and samba enlightens one side of the scene meanwhile on the other side at the bottom left the body of
a woman lays in state while the common folk outline the body with candles and pray. There are ghosts figures intermingling that keeps the whole scene not separate but, whole in a surrealist way, and as one instead while a white bird in midair represents the soul elevating and looking down from above to the resting body left behind.
About Walter Casaravilla
Walter Casaravilla studied at the School of the Applied Arts with renowned Artist Anhelo Hernandez in Montevideo, Uruguay, his native country. In 1970 he moved to New York realizing a long time dream. In 1975 he showed for the first time at the Washington Square outdoor show in the Village NY.- Since 1989 he has shared a studio space along other artist at 14th Street Painters in NY where he found his home and new inspirations for his art.
